I love to have pesto and even my son also likes it. And this delicious pesto pasta salad is something else. So once a month we make pesto at home. And we use it in different ways.

Today I'm sharing a Pesto pasta salad recipe. Pesto pasta salad is a very delicious, versatile dish that combines cooked pasta with a vibrant basil pesto sauce and various additional ingredients. It is often served chilled or at room temperature, making it a popular choice for picnics, or as a refreshing summer meal.

What is pesto?

Pesto is a popular Italian sauce that originated in the region of Liguria. It is known for its vibrant green color and fresh, flavorful taste. It is basically made with basil, pine nuts, parmesan cheese, olive oil salt. But you can always substitute some ingredients according to your taste choice.


Here's some information about pesto pasta salad:


  • Pasta

  • Basil

  • Spinach

  • Walnuts

  • Lemon juice

  • Black pepper

  • Salt

  • Olive oil

  • Fresh baby spinach

  • Tomatoes

  • Cucumber

Pasta: You can use any kind of pasta, depending on your preference.

Pesto sauce: The key ingredient, is made from fresh basil leaves, spinach, walnuts, olive oil, salt, and lemon juice You can either make your own pesto or use store-bought for convenience.

Additional ingredients: You can customize your salad by adding various ingredients such as cherry tomatoes, sliced olives, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, or any other vegetables or proteins of your choice.

Optional garnishes: Fresh basil, chopped walnuts, or peanuts.



  • Step 1 Cook the pasta: Boil the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and rinse it under cold water to cool it down.

  • Step 2 Make the pesto sauce: If making your own pesto, blend together all ingredients in coarse form.

  • Step 3 Combine the ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the cooked and cooled pasta with the pesto sauce, ensuring that the pasta is well coated. Add the additional ingredients and toss gently to combine.

  • Step 4 Chill and serve: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the pasta salad for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Before serving, give it a final toss and adjust the seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, grated Parmesan cheese, or toasted pine nuts, if desired.

  • Step 5 Serve: Enjoy delicious pesto salad.
